A person born in American Samoa, including Swain Island. Western Samoa (also known as the Independent State of Samoa) is not part of American Samoa so people from this country are not U.S. Nationals.
A person born in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or the Northern Mariana Islands. People born abroad to U.S. citizens are generally, but not always, considered citizens. Individuals may also become citizens through the naturalization process.
Income in cash not received in exchange for labor or services, not gained by employment. Examples include but are not limited to cash gifts, unemployment, social security income, interest income, alimony or child support.
