Does your Company assist with the Social Security and other disability application processes?
Yes we help your patients with the disability process. We have Attorneys who assist them through out the entire process including appeals and Court procedures.
How long will the eligibility process take?
Most applications for assistance should be processed within 30-45 days of being filed. A great deal depends on what program the patient may be eligible for. A determination of disability generally takes a lot longer than other types of assistance. Also, if the patient is cooperative and is able to assist in the collection of their verification documents, that speeds things up considerably. In most states, an application can be filed up to 3 calendar months after a patient needs care and be backdated to cover them. While an application would be filed as soon as possible, some cases they may not be able to be filed until the last month possible for coverage. Then, the application should be processed in 30-45 days. If the application is denied improperly an appeal may need to be filed and that would impact the amount of time for the case to be finally adjudicated.
How much will this cost?
We would be happy to discuss costs with you on an individual basis as the cost vary depending on the programs you choose to take part in and to what level. Since we do individualize many of our programs, costs vary as well.
One of problems with Charity Care is that we are required under our policy to obtain a tax return or a pay stub to support the application for Charity but we rarely get them can you help with that?
Yes, we are contracted with TALX Corporation with automated Tax return and employment verification and pay stub process. If you have the patient sign a release for those when they apply for charity we can get you an immediate copy of a tax return if they filed one and employment verification and pay stub about a third of the time.
Our Current Medicaid Vendor does not appeal any cases that are denied is that the usual process and does your Company appeal denials by the Medicaid Agency?
We do review all denials of eligibility to determine if the denial was appropriate. On those cases we do appeal the denial. We attempt to then resolve the issue but if it can not be resolved we have in house Attorneys who attend the hearings with the applicant. If we disagree with the final Administrative decision we then appeal to the court system for Judicial Review.
Our current vendor bills if they find the patient has applied on their own and has eligibility what is your policy?
We never bill you if the person has obtained eligibility prior to our involvement with the case. If we identify that situation we advise you of the eligibility and billing information and close the account at no cost to you.
Our current vendor bills us if they identify insurance or other source of payment does your company do the same?
No, we never charge you for insurance or other payment sources except those we are hired to assist with. If we identify insurance we immediately advise you of that and document your system at no charge to you.
We are considering bringing in house some of our Medicaid Eligibility Assistance with our patients our current vendor does not recommend that and does not really support a reduced role does your company support that process?
Yes many Hospitals are looking to reduce costs and support one touch financial clearance for their patients. We fully support that with providing supplemental activities including field visits and locational activity, appeals and work on more difficult cases. We also help with training of staff on the Medicaid and other public assistance eligibility processes. We also automate the process through our RAMP software to enable you to monitor the success and productivity of your staff efforts.
